Please share this information with faculty members at your school who may be teaching courses in the fall that include content on climate change science, impacts and/or policy. Also with leaders of student organizations whose work connects with these issues.
We encourage you to begin planning now to bring students to participate in the Safe Climate PA conference that is being organized for early fall in Harrisburg by the Pennsylvania Environmental Resources Consortium (PERC), Our Climate and Citizens Climate Education. You and your students will interact with peers from around the state for conversation and learning about climate change risks in Pennsylvania and carbon pricing policies. The program will include opportunities for your students to present in panel sessions, participate in skill building workshops for communicating science and advocating for responsible climate change action, and engage in facilitated roundtable dialogues. We will also have talks by public officials and subject matter experts.
Please respond to our short questionnaire to express interest in attending:https://goo.gl/forms/vqHsFWN8x4Pm4xHk2.
In the coming weeks we will launch a website to share information about the conference as plans develop. This will include the program, a call for abstracts for student panel presentations, and a repository of shared resources for teaching about climate change and carbon pricing.
Professors: start thinking now about how you might incorporate the conference into your syllabus and assignments for a course that you will teach in the fall.
Leaders of student groups: start thinking now about how you might use the conference to help develop student leadership skills.
We are excited about the potential for this event to engage our students in shared learning about questions of importance to all of us. We look forward to seeing you at the Safe Climate PA conference.
Registration fee: to be determined; just enough to cover lunch and materials and be affordable for students.
