A discussion on Pennsylvania Higher Ed engaging in International Climate Change Negotiations and its relation to Civil Society and Public Outreach
Join Don Brown of Penn State University; Diane Husic of Moravian College; and Keith Peterman & student Leah Block of York College of Pennsylvania- all attendees at this year's Climate Change negotiations in Cancun-- for this insider’s look at what went on and what they see as Higher Ed’s role in the challenge.
Panelists will report on the U.N. climate negotiations process, discuss key challenges in drafting an international agreement, COP16 outcomes (both positive and negative, and other perspectives from COP16 recently held in Cancun. The hope is to prompt a conversation as to:
a) What should be the role of colleges and universities in educating our students and the public about climate change, the complexities in formulating mitigation and adaptation plans, and climate justice; and
b) What active role should faculty, students and others on campuses take in helping to shift political opinion and shape public policy on issues related to climate change?
Registration is FREE to all PERC schools and sponsors (you must be in our member database and logged in to register for free--if you work at a member school and are not in our database, contact your PERC rep or Josh Hooper (josh.hooper@pagreencolleges.org) to find out how to be added to the database.) General registration is $100 per registrant; people from PERC affiliate schools can register for $89 per person. If you are a Member. Sponsor or Affiliate School, choose the corresponding registration, not the $100 General as that is available to everyone.
