Speakers include: 

Michael Dunn, BCMA PD-1829BM/RCA #711, is the founder and president of Preservation Tree, the Consulting Municipal Arborist for West Chester Borough, PA, and Urban Forestry Consultant for LandStudies, a leading environmental firm, in Lititz, PA. His main area of focus since 2016 has been the integration of the urban forest into urban and regional planning in Southeastern PA and beyond.”

Eva Monheim, co-principal of Verdant Earth Educators is the author of Shrubs and Hedges: Discover, Grow, and Care for the World’s Most Popular Plants. She served as assistant professor at Temple University in Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, is faculty at the Barnes Arboretum at St. Joseph’s University and teaches in Longwood Gardens’ Professional Horticulture Program. Eva is also a certified arborist and holds memberships in the International Dendrology Society, Garden Communicators International, AHS, PHS, and the Urban Wood Network.

Julianne Schieffer is the southeastern Pennsylvania Extension Urban Forester for the Pennsylvania State University. Holding International Society of Arboriculture certificates as Municipal Specialist and Certified Master Arborist, she has promoted sound tree and forestry practices to communities and the green industry for nearly 30 years.

Julie Snell, is a founding principal of TEND, co-owner of Redbud Native Plant Nursery, and a Board of Trustees member for the Ecological Landscape Alliance. Trained as a landscape architect and certified arborist, Julie’s previous work with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society as a project manager focused on Philadelphia’s high-profile public green spaces.

Joan Welch, PhD, is a professor of geography and planning at West Chester University. With over 30 years of research focused on the Eastern Deciduous Forest, both urban and suburban. Passionate about fostering ecological resilience through promotion of diversity, she is an unabashed tree hugger.
