What challenges exist to reaching our ultimate sustainability goals? How might we cultivate opportunities to address those challenges?

The Pennsylvania Environmental Resource Consortium invites you to attend Pennsylvania’s Climate Future on February 4, 2022 from 9–11 am. This TED-style event convenes leaders from business, state and local government, NGOs, and colleges and universities to share what’s happening now on climate change, what intermediate goals we should set, what challenges and opportunities we face, and how we can work together to achieve them. Registration is free. The event is open to the public. The discussions that arise from this event will inform the content for PERC’s annual event in April ‘22.

Pennsylvania plays an essential role in the nation’s and the world’s action on climate change. A top energy exporter, industrial powerhouse, leading agricultural producer, and one of our most forested states, Pennsylvania has historic responsibility for the causes of climate change and for the development of its solutions. Truly, as Pennsylvania goes, so goes the United States. With increasing storm and health threats, burgeoning and accelerating solar, EV, green building, and carbon farming industries, and emerging possibilities from the 2021 Infrastructure Bill and COP 26, we need to see the next steps–challenges and opportunities–together.

Lindsay Byron, P.G., CC-P will provide the event keynote address. Lindsay is a Licensed Professional Geologist (P.G.) and certified Climate Change Professional (CC-P) currently serving as Environmental Group Manager in DEP’s Energy Programs Office. Lindsay is responsible for managing DEP’s Energy Assurance Program, and the Department’s Climate Change Program. Lindsay supervises staff who manage a variety of energy efficiency, energy resiliency and clean energy programs.
