EJ in PA supports action around environmental justice (EJ) issues in Pennsylvania. EJ in PA community hubs serve as the convener of local organizations interested in environmental justice, community health, and community connection. The EJ community hubs will provide a space for local dialogue that will lead to a long-lasting connection within the community. We want to ensure that the EJ community hub discussion centers on the voices and concerns of residents and advocates for environmental justice communities. EJ in PA serves as the kickoff event for the hub activity.
Encourage potential attendees to identify and invite other potential attendees to the EJ Symposium. Some model outreach materials will be provided to EJ community hubs to assist, but they can be edited to meet local needs.
For background on EJ in Pennsylvania, consider sharing the recording of the Clarke Forum on Contemporary Issues forum on October 14, 2020 and encouraging information on Penn State’s annual Colloquium on the Environment on April 1, 2021 featuring Dr. Robert Bullard.
EJ community hubs will be provided with contact lists and local topics of interest from the Office of Environmental Justice at DEP.
Create and share activities that get attendees to think about EJ issues and concerns in their region, work they are doing currently, and partners that are needed to effectively address. This discussion will look different in each region under the local expertise of the EJ community hub.
